The task
The port operator required a comprehensive condition assessment of all three quay structures at the Port of Emmelsum. The objective was to systematically record the corrosion status of the steel sheet piling, document damage to stairs, ladders, and bollards, and produce a reliable inspection report to serve as a basis for maintenance decisions.
Our Solution
- Systematic visual inspection: Section-by-section inspection of all sheet piles, stairs, ladders, and bollards on the east, north, and west quays.
- Measurement of remaining wall thickness: Ultrasonic measurement on selected sheet piles across all corrosion zones in accordance with BAW-ESM
- Video documentation: Complete underwater video recording of all inspection areas
- Damage mapping: Digital assignment of all findings to the respective
- Test Report: Certified final report with corrosion rates and recommendations for measures.

All three quay structures were inspected within the agreed timeframe. The client received a comprehensive inspection report clearly prioritizing the necessary repair measures—ready for archiving and suitable for submission to the authorities.
